Prepare Your Home for Painting Day

A little preparation goes a long way. This simple checklist will help you get your space ready before our team arrives so everything runs smoothly from start to finish. Taking a bit of time to prepare allows us to work more efficiently, keep your home clean and protected, and stay on schedule—so we can focus on delivering a high-quality, professional result.

Colours

Please send us the colours before the project starts. Generally, you can select two colours, one ceiling colour and one trim colour. Additional colours will be billed out.

Decor & Wall Items

Please leave nails, hooks & picture hangers in place if you plan to re-hang the pictures. If not, please remove them and our painters will repair any holes.

Electronics

Please disconnect wiring from computers, TVs, stereos, gaming systems and related equipment. Remember to identify the wires to reinstall them easily after the work is complete.

Surfaces & Shelving

Please clear off mantels, shelves, counters, dressers and tables. Move lamps, decorative pieces, and small items away from areas being painted.

Closets & Storage

Please empty any closets scheduled for painting and remove contents from cabinets and bookcases to make moving easier.

Bathrooms

Please remove towels, rugs, toiletries and accessories from bathrooms and powder rooms.

Furniture

Please let us know ahead of time if you need assistance moving large furniture to the centre of the room. Be sure to relocate any fragile or high-value items.

Access & Work Area

Please ensure a clear path through your home for ladders and equipment and unlock any doors or gates we will need to access.

Walls

Please let us know about any stains or trouble spots you are aware of. If walls are heavily used (kitchens, kids rooms, high-traffic areas), a quick wipe-down helps.

HVAC & Airflow

Please turn off fans and HVAC systems during painting to help reduce dust movement. If possible, please ensure windows can be opened for ventilation.

Appliances

If kitchen or laundry areas are being painted, please pull appliances out a few inches if you are able — or let us know if you need help.

Kids & Pets

Consider temporary arrangements for pets during painting days. Also consider how the work may affect routines in sleeping areas, kitchens or other high-use spaces.

Parking

If possible, please reserve a driveway or close parking spot for unloading equipment.
